Dr. Kanterman was ny son's ophthalmologist all through his growing up years. My son is 23 years old and we are now settled in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Till date we have not forgotten his immense dedication and above all his "eye" for detail. Never met or known a doctor as profoundly knowledgeable as well as empathetic as Dr. Kanterman. Even now, we can reach out to him and know- he is there for my son.
Such doctors make the world truly a better place. Truly.

Dr. Kanterman’s office has extremely long wait times. We waited over three months for our appointment which was ultimately canceled and then rescheduled another three months later. One of the most unpleasant experiences we have ever had with a doctors office. The staff could not be more rude. Their policies are rigid and unaccommodating. For a pediatric office they couldn’t be colder. The receptionist on the phone cut me off four times and wouldn’t even let me finish speaking. After I spoke with her she hung up on me. They really need to learn some manners in that office. The doctor is basic at best. Nothing to rave about. Did a basic exam, nothing special. The office is extremely outdated and not well maintained. The waiting area is dirty and unkept. Overall quite an unpleasant experience.

We have been seeing Dr. Kanterman for many years. I have never had the issues that some of the other posters have experienced except maybe the wait time, but then again there are not many pediatric ophthalmologists in the area so I expect them to be busy and try to be patient. At the end of the appointment he always asks if we have any questions or concerns. I am very happy with the Plantation office. Please note this is a real review from my own experience, I was not asked to post this.

I have been going to ped ophthalmologist for more than 20 years. Yes, there are issues in this office like every other doctors office. The staff is rude. The waiting, the lack of customer service and compassion. This is not a perfect world. Unfortunately, we are not created equal. If my staff was rude to my patients, I will tell them to find another job. Kindness, compassion, and good client service are essential for the patients and parents or for anyone. Those qualities are lack by the majority of people in USA .It does not matter if it's a doctor or a store etc. It seems to me that the most rude and miserable people live here in USA. I treat people very kindly with respect. I listen to others so I can understand their needs or opinions etc. When we go see a doctor we need to speak up, let the doctor know why are we there. If he takes 5 min with a patient then, there is a problem. I am a very well educated human. I don't tell everyone or publish all the titles I have after my name. I have learned that we need to listen and communicate properly. Therefore, if one takes he or her child to see the doctor, then write down the questions or concerns. Be ready to ask questions, or provide the information. Doctors are not GODS. They are people just like everyone else. They make mistakes, they, eat, poop, sleep etc like we all do. My suggestion parents, be ready when you take your child to see a doctor. Have patience, which is a virtue that a lot of humans do not have. One problem with this society is that we run to the doctor or emergency room for non emergencies like a cold, or minor problems that can be treated at home. The system is over abuse, eventually there's going to be long waiting periods, at the end of the visit the doctor is going to tell you to eat well and rest and the virus will be gone in a few days. I gave the doctors at this office 5 stars, the staff 3, the staff is lazy and rude. If that was my office, I will fired them all, and personally hired people who cares and loves their career choice. #patience #compassion

I've visited this office last year with a 8:45 am appointment and was not seen until after 10am! They have absolutely no respect for people's time as the staff overbooks appointments for Dr. Kanterman. This year, I waited 4 months for an appointment date...scheduled appointment in June 2018 for my toddler to be seen in October 2018 since I had no other choice. It turns out that the date of the appointment is early release and the school will not accept my toddler coming in late on that day. I called the office to see about an afternoon appointment and was told that the next appointment would be 11/29...keep in mind that my toddler is a premature child with vision problems and is having issues seeing clearly at school. I was repeatedly told by the person on the phone, "the next availability is 11/29 or you can keep your appointment because we are overbooked and no exceptions or courtesy can be made." I asked to speak with the office manager and was put on hold for about 5 mins, then was advised that she's busy with patients and nothing can be done to assist me. Word of advice...don't waste your time going here!

We went to see Dr. Kanterman as our daughter had pink eye. We saw him for 5 minutes for him to simply confirm she had pink eye and kick us out as quickly as possible and then charge us $300. I highly recommend going to a different pediatric ophthalmologist.

Despite filling out a postcard on each and every visit, I have yet to receive notification by mail that it was time for an appointment. Last week I called to make an appointment only to get a recording that the number has been disconnected. As usual, terrible communication between the practice and the patients. Time to find a new pediatric ophthalmologist. And hopefully the next one will spend more than three minutes with my son.
